Buccaneers CB Talib’s hearing is delayed

It seems that the state attorney’s office has not been prepared to decide whether the Tampa Bay Buccaneers cornerback Aqib Talib should be accepted into a re-trial intervention program that is usually reserved for first-time, non-violent offenders.

The cornerback is scheduled to have a hearing on Friday in Pinellas County but it was delayed. He was charged with simple battery for allegedly hitting cab driver David Duggan in the head. Many doubts if Talib is qualified to apply for the PTI program. The hearing was delayed perhaps because the state attorney’s office is concerned that it might strike as preferential treatment for an athlete if Talib is accepted into the program. The charges would be dropped if Talib was accepted into the program.

What’s more Talib was no way a first-time offender. He fought Cory Boyd at the FL’s rookie symposium, popped popping teammate Torrie Holt in the face with a helmet last spring when he was trying to hit another teammate Donald Penn. As a player always being seen in public wearing NFL jerseys, Talib should at least take responsibility for what he did.

Buccaneers RB and DE will miss season finale

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers running back Earnest Graham and defensive end Jimmy Wilkerson will not be available in their Buccaneers jerseys for this Sunday’s game against the Atlanta Falcons, because both have suffered injuries during last Sunday’s victory over the New Orleans Saints.

Graham tore a ligament in the big toe on his right foot Sunday. Wilkerson tore the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee. Both were placed on injured reserve Monday. Tight end Ryan Purvis was promoted from the practice squad to fill one of the roster openings, as for the other, no decision has been made.
