Chargers could have another exhibition blacked out

The San Diego Chargers may have felt the pressure of economy recession, with Friday night’s preseason game against the San Francisco 49ers being the second blacked out exhibition since 2006.

The first one was the exhibition opener against the Seattle Seahawks with some 6,000 general-admission tickets remaining unsold. And there are about 7,000 general-admission tickets for Friday exhibition remaining unsold Tuesday, more than 72 hours prior to the kickoff, triggering the black-out on local TV.

What is more, the team has also warned fans that there could be regular-season blackouts, which had not happened since 2004. According to the team’s chief operating officer, not a single regular-season game has been close to being sold out, including the season home opener against the Baltimore Ravens on Sept. 20.
